You downloaded the OKX APK, tapped the file, and Android replied with a short, unhelpful message: “App not installed”. The good news is that this error almost always comes from one of a handful of causes, and each has a simple fix. Work through the list below in order.
1. Uninstall the old OKX version first
This is the most common cause. If you already have OKX installed from Google Play or from a different APK build, Android refuses to install a new copy signed differently over the top of it. Go to Settings → Apps → OKX → Uninstall, then install the new APK again. Your account lives on OKX's servers, so you only need to log back in afterwards.
2. Allow installs from your browser
Android blocks APK installs from unknown sources by default. Open Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps, choose the browser you used to download the file (Chrome, Samsung Internet, etc.) and turn on Allow from this source. Remember to switch it off again once OKX is installed.
3. Download the file again
An interrupted download produces a corrupted file. The usual symptom is “There was a problem parsing the package”. Delete the file from your Downloads folder and download it again on a stable Wi-Fi connection.
4. Free up storage space
The installer needs room for both the APK and the unpacked app. Keep at least 500 MB free. Clear large videos, unused apps or your browser cache, then try again.
5. Check your Android version
Very old Android versions are not supported by current exchange apps. If your phone has not received updates for years, check Settings → System → Software update. If no update is available, use the OKX website in your mobile browser instead.
6. Let Google Play Protect finish its scan
Play Protect sometimes shows a warning for apps installed outside the Play Store. If you downloaded the file from the official okx.com page, choose More details → Install anyway. Never do this for an APK that came from a chat message or an unknown website.
7. Install from the Downloads folder, not the notification
Some phones fail when you open the APK straight from the download notification. Open the Files or My Files app, go to Downloads, and tap the OKX file there.
8. Disable “secure folder” or work profiles temporarily
If you downloaded the APK inside a secure folder or work profile, the installer may not have permission to use it. Move the file to the normal Downloads folder or download it again outside that profile.
9. Restart the phone
It sounds too simple, but a restart clears stuck package installer processes. Restart, then repeat steps 1–3.
Still stuck?
If none of these fixes work, you can still trade without the app. Open OKX in your mobile browser and sign in there, then try the app again later.
