Identity verification, or KYC (“Know Your Customer”), is required by regulated exchanges before you can use most features. On OKX it usually takes just a few minutes in the app. Here is how to get it right the first time.
What you need
- A valid government ID: national ID card, passport or driving licence (accepted types vary by country).
- A phone camera in good working order.
- Good, even lighting and a plain background.
Step-by-step
- Open the OKX app and tap your profile icon.
- Choose Verification (or Identity verification).
- Select your country or region of residence and the ID type.
- Photograph the front and back of your ID. Make sure all four corners are visible and there is no glare.
- Complete the face scan by following the on-screen prompts.
- Submit and wait for the result. Many reviews finish within minutes, but some can take longer.
Why KYC gets rejected (and how to fix it)
- Blurry or cropped photos: place the ID on a dark, flat surface and retake.
- Glare on the card: turn off the flash and move away from direct light.
- Name mismatch: the name on your account must match your ID exactly.
- Expired document: use an ID that is currently valid.
- Face scan failed: remove glasses or hats and use a well-lit room.
Is it safe to upload my ID?
Only upload documents inside the official OKX app or website. Never send ID photos to anyone via chat, email or social media, even if they claim to be OKX support.
