Every time a new token or NFT lands in your Solana wallet, the network creates an account for it and deducts a small amount of SOL as "rent". When that account is empty, you can close it and get the SOL back, and OKX Wallet has a built-in Solana rent recovery tool to do it. If you trade a lot of memecoins, dozens of empty token accounts can add up to a noticeable amount of SOL.
What Solana rent is
Solana charges a prepaid amount of SOL, called rent, to store data on-chain. Each token and NFT you hold has its own account, and that account must keep a minimum SOL balance to stay active. When you first receive a token, that rent is taken from your wallet. After you sell or send away the whole balance, the empty account still holds the rent until it is closed.
When you can recover rent
| Account state | Rent recoverable? |
|---|---|
| Token/NFT balance is exactly zero | Yes, closing the account returns the rent |
| Any tokens or NFTs left in the account | No |

Not using OKX Wallet yet? You can set it up through our OKX Wallet invite link (referral link), which gives a 0–10% DEX trading fee discount depending on the code.
Fees and the common error
- Claiming needs an on-chain network fee, shown before you confirm.
- If you see "Failed to estimate network fee", your wallet probably doesn't have enough SOL for the fee. OKX recommends keeping at least 0.01 SOL.
Before you claim
- Make sure the accounts you close really hold nothing you want. Closing works only when the balance is zero, but dust tokens you care about should be moved or sold first.
- Be wary of websites offering to "reclaim your SOL" that ask you to connect and sign. Use the tool inside OKX Wallet instead of unknown sites.
