Trader Mode is an optional mode in OKX Wallet that lets you place OKX DEX market orders, limit orders, take-profit/stop-loss and copy trades without manually signing every trade, while your assets stay in your own self-custody wallet. It works on EVM networks and Solana. You switch it on for 7, 15 or 30 days, and it turns itself off when that period ends.
How Trader Mode works
Normally, every swap in a self-custody wallet needs your signature. That is safe but slow when you want limit orders or automatic exits. Trader Mode solves this with a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE): an isolated, secure area of modern hardware. When you enable it, your account's private key is stored encrypted in the TEE, and OKX says it cannot access it. OKX DEX orders are then signed there automatically.
| Normal OKX Wallet | Trader Mode | |
| Signing DEX trades | You sign every trade | Signed automatically in the TEE |
| Transfers and other DApps | You sign | Still signed the usual way |
| Order types | Swaps | Market, limit, take-profit/stop-loss, copy trade |
| Networks | All networks the wallet supports | EVM networks and Solana |
| Duration | Always | 7, 15 or 30 days, then auto-off |
What you can do with it
- Limit orders: set a USD price, or a swap rate, and the swap runs when the market reaches it.
- Take-profit and stop-loss: when you place a market buy, add an auto-sell rule that sells when the price rises to your target or falls to your limit. Both are based on USD value from your buy price. Trailing take-profit/stop-loss is not supported yet.
- Copy trading: automatically mirror trades of addresses you choose, with your own strategy settings.
- Address tracking: monitor wallets, including batch monitoring and bulk import.
How to enable Trader Mode
You need a seed phrase wallet in the latest OKX Wallet app or browser extension first. Then:
- On the app home page, tap the wallet name and choose Trader Mode.
- Pick the wallet and switch on the account you want to use.
- Choose how long it stays on: 7, 15 or 30 days.
- Tap Enable.
You can also create a new account with Trader Mode (Add account → Add account with trader mode) or enable it from Manage wallet. When you first enable it, the account's total value should be no more than 200,000 USD; after that there is no balance limit.
New to OKX Wallet? You can set it up through our OKX Wallet invite link (referral link), which gives a 0–10% DEX trading fee discount depending on the code.
Placing a limit order or TP/SL
- Open an OKX DEX trading page that supports Trader Mode.
- Choose the token and network.
- Pick the order type: market, limit (USD price) or limit (swap rate).
- Enter the amount and price or trigger.
- Select Trader Mode as the funding source.
- Check the tokens, amount, slippage, fees and estimated amount received, then submit.
- Follow it under open orders and order history.
Slippage can still change the final amount you receive, even for limit orders.
When Trader Mode turns off
- Automatically at the end of the period: keys are deleted from the TEE and active strategy orders are suspended, not cancelled. Re-enable it and press Resume on the orders you still want.
- If you disable it manually: all strategy orders are cancelled immediately and cannot be resumed.
- During upgrades or maintenance: it may pause temporarily.
The status shows green when on, orange when it will switch off within 3 days, and grey while switching off. Removing the wallet from your device does not disable Trader Mode, so disable it first if you no longer want it.
Risks to understand
- Automatic signing is convenient, but every order still trades real funds. Check copy-trade and TP/SL settings carefully.
- OKX says a security audit was completed, but the code is not open source yet.
- Stop-loss is not a guarantee on fast-moving or thin tokens.
- Digital assets are volatile and can lose value.
